A sweetheart, but with punk rock manners...

So, here's the post you never thought you'd see me writing: the post where I am wearing yellow jeans. Yes, I promise you're on the right blog, I am still me - just wearing yellow jeans. With cats on them, let's not forget the cats.

Choker - Twirly Trinkets
Top - ASOS
Wedges - New Look

We all have strange things that we're drawn to with no particular rhyme or reason. It's the reason some agnostics have buddha statues on their mantelpieces or seemingly everyone in the world (myself included) has a star tattoo somewhere on their body. For me, it was these jeans - I liked them when the JW Anderson collection at Topshop first launched, but sensibly talked myself out of buying yellow jeans because in case you didn't get the memo, I don't wear much colour. Yet every time I saw them I was tempted. I finally caved and added them to my basket when they went into the sale and only had my size left (that's a sign, right?!) - with student discount they were £13.50 and provided the last item I needed to get free delivery with my order. I reasoned with myself that I could order them, get them out of my system, and when they arrived and looked ridiculous on me I could return them. But, erm, that didn't quite work out because I love them.

They remind me of Grease, when everyone's wearing those super-skinny high waisted jeans and pastel colours - there's something really feminine and glamorous about that to me. It also probably explains my choice of an off-the-shoulder top, because that's what Sandy wears in the final scene of Grease when she gets a makeover and everyone lives happily ever after. I'm wearing the jeans with wedges in these photos, mainly because I left my black flats at home - they'd have been my first choice, with the jeans rolled up a little at the ankle - it'll be great when the snow clears and spring rolls around. Find this on Lookbook here...

What do you think of these jeans? My best friends are torn: one thinks they are amazing and could only be improved if the pattern consisted of llamas instead of cats. The other said, in a dubious tone, "Oh yeah, I saw those on Instagram... they're - er - nice... no, sorry, Hannah, they're not even nice. Who wears jeans with cats on them apart from a six year old?!" I laughed - it's okay, she doesn't understand my Hello Kitty obsession either. Which actually, I won't even get started on because otherwise I really will turn into a crazy cat lady...

PS - the song from the title of this post is from this awesome song 'Anna' by Hello Saferide. It's one I came across years ago on the blog of my favourite author Sarra Manning. If you love songs that tell stories, give this a listen.

  1. Well I absolutely love them and I think they look perfect on you. I was so tempted by the tortoise print ones, but I can't stand myself in jeans.

    1. Thanks so much Char! Yeah I understand, although these are really stretchy and nice, it's very rare that I just find jeans that fit straight away (I got these in a 10 and thought they wouldn't fit, but they do!) I liked the T-shirts too but I think these are cuter, very different xxx

  9. I'm in love with your jeans!! I stick to pretty neutral colours so I don't wear much colour either. I coveted these cat jeans and the matching top from the moment I saw them - and when they were in the sale it was soo tempting!! But I don't think I could pull them off, you however, look amazing! And I love the fact you were channelling Grease! xx

    1. (Your comment really confused me because for a good thirty seconds I thought it was one that I'd written and was like why am I complimenting myself?! Hello other Hannah, haha) Thanks so much, I know I loved the top too but the jeans appealed most for some crazy reason! Yeah Grease is rather an unlikely style icon for black-clad me (or at least you'd think I'm more of a T-bird than a Pinky Lady, who knew?!) Thanks so much for the sweet words though! xxx
